Savoir Faire

He lacks savoir faire,
savoring favors granted
by coarse-mannered louts

hey this is pecking at my mind a bit...
when someone grants a favor, s/he cannot be a lout... just wise and mature people grant favors...
and if we just savor a favor and never say how we are grateful for that, then we are stupid... because we will lose that favor soon...
this person does not lack savoir faire... he is proud... because he lacks self-confidence...

seems crows can preach too...
:)

and they have a very small brain... perhaps i'm missing something here...

and i loved the word play here very much...

I could be wrong about this, but my feeling is that a lout will always grant a loutish favor. The things you give, are always a reflection of yourself. To me, favors like other gifts can be tricky things. Sometimes we don't grant them with the best of intentions, or as a means of deception. Sometimes we give them begrudgingly, out of a sense of duty. Sometimes we keep them small but make them seem great, and try to win indebtedness from the receiver. And once they have that indebtedness they may try to get you to do something that goes against your nature.

So, I think the "savoir faire" of this poem is knowing from whom to accept favors.

That's probably much more explanation that the poem is worth, as I mostly wrote it for the word play ;).

ah so wise!
yes!
you're right... but then they are something else in the favor's clothes... kind of business... or dirty games... like the recent dinner party in UN by our government!!! all those foods were soaked in our blood...

or like some comments on our blogs...
or like some praises we receive...

they can be easily detected and distinguished from the true ones...

let's not call them favor... when we do a favor we do not expecet anything... we just want to share a good feeling we have...

and one of the things that crows can do easily is to disregard that indebtedness... i have shocked many in my life in this regard...
:D

thanks for the explanation... really insightful!

an atom is so small but it holds lots of energy in it...

I guess the true wisdom would be to appreciate the gift while also understanding the giver.

Atoms are like the words of our poems... they help to create, but when broken they can also destroy. I try not to underestimate them :)
