Carcass

Stained-glass wings shatter
This butterfly's carcass lies
Beauty's no trifle

In the early 80s I hitch-hiked a great deal and picked up butterfly wings from the side of the highway and kept them in a jar (since lost). Beautiful butterflies, you'd be amazed how many of them become fatalaties on our nation's highways. ha! I'm sure that's way more info than you thought this haiku would garner. Well-done. :)

@hb Please do :).

@Brenda That story would make a cool poem (if it isn't already one).

Read it over and over again and it just gets better.

There used to be clouds of butterflies in Sweden. But because some idiot politicians find meadows useless and therefore make them into car parks or houses, the butterflies are not as many as before. Sorry for my blathering about politics, but the Swedish election is in September and I want to get rid of the right-wing government really badly!

We've got an election coming up in November, so I can relate. The right wing is likely to recapture a majority, but our "left wing" is pretty conservative as it is. The prospect of the US ever passing any meaningful environmental legislation is extremely remote.

another precious piece francis......i hope people learn to keep and trifle such aphorisms as much as they value ignoring them for their self centered bliss....
cheers !!
