Doodle Week: Figured Abstraction

The theme for Doodle Week's Day 6 is doodle abstract. Typically my abstracts start with a figure that I break down into unrecognizable twists and blobs. For example, the following drawing started out life as a dagger before succumbing to the inevitable deconstruction.

A dagger, huh?

My interpretation: a sock puppet throwing up.

Hi Francis!
anch'io vorrei scompormi per vedere di che cosa sono fatta...

@mark I can visualize the sock puppet. It looks like he had fish for dinner.

@hanna I could use a good mental breakdown myself, but through someone else's eyes. I'm guessing my self-view is a bit distorted.

I have scrolled through and checked out all of your Doodles for this week. They are really good. You create a fine line between doodles and ART!! And I'm leaning toward ART! Really well done.

Be blessed.

Thanks Jennifer. I wouldn't try to pass any of it off as art. To me, it's more sketch-based entertainment. One-off, sophisticated cartoons. Colorful time-wasters.

I see a heart in the middle and that may be appropriate seeing as many a dagger have been stabbed through a heart :)

I could see someone relaxing on the couch, one foot down on the floor and the body reclined.

I see you've been busy creating my friend! Wonderful job on these works of art. How big are the originals?
And of course, I've noticed the break from writing...I thoroughly understand that aspect of it.
I'm still around...I have you on a feed reader and will drop in as often as I can. Take care Francis!

@drowsey_monkey Thanks ... it's not my favorite of the week, but it'll do.

@Roger It's a job that pays very poorly :).

@Laura The beauty of abstracts that are figurative is they're open to multiple interpretations. Yours is much more pleasant to contemplate than mine :).

@JD I'm very glad to hear from you. I hope you're doing well. After over a week off from writing, I think I'm ready to get back to it. I hope I've got a little more energy. The drawings for Doodle Week were done on a bit larger sketch pad than I usually use ... 11x15 inches, I think.

Oops, left Claire out in my mass reply ...

@claire You're definitely right on about the heart, but this one looks well-calloused and able to withstanding a little stabbing now and again.

I was hurt by being left out :(

lol :)

That isn't doodling, that is art my friend. These look to me like internal organs all nestled close to each other. Superb.

@melissa Thanks. I think a lot of my abstracts take on that globby internal organ look. I'm sure there's something symbolic in that.
