Sea change: today's doodle

Sometimes I imagine a general form that then takes on a more specific figurative shape as I begin drawing it. The end result can often be a surprise, and it can easily morph into very different objects. For example, the sea creature below evolved from the same visual idea as the tongue of fire in the last post.

Your designs are actually very tribal in nature, have you noticed this?

Hi Francis - I think your art reminds me of Beatles 'Yellow Submarine. I think the animators nname is Heinz Edlemann. Very psychadelic - yet not. Like a 'pastel astrobrite'?

Hi Courtney,
I love Yellow Submarine, and I'm sure it definitely had an influence on my psyche. The hand image I did with the eye is definitely very reminiscent of the movie's animation. Oh ... and I loved Astrobrite as a kid too :).
