Chirp

No chalk shapes the empty
space swept in to replace it,
this cricket. Criminals, we’re
outlined by its final chirp.

Francis, this is great. I, who adore crickets, find my heart sinking at the thought of that final chirp... and the knowledge that we are all guilty of sweeping.

Thanks Kay... I too have always had a fondness for crickets. I always heard it was bad luck to kill one, but I've heard that about spiders too... I think it's because they eat other insects.
