Three minds

I am of three minds—
an un-whole trinity
built by ghostly id,
god-sick conscience,
and one son of never-
virginal egos—
interlocked inside
a mortal’s spirited,
head-in-head conflict.
To the fabulous free
goes my prized heart’s
spoiled meat. Cooked rare,
its fetid, red juices
run in all directions.

For this week's Poetry on Wednesday prompt, Rallentanda asks, What's on your mind? My minds are on my mind, all three. This was sparked by my drawing of the same name, and my friend Eileen's suggestion that it be put to words.

Francis,
Thank you for the kind mention. I suppose it was just that 'two heads' were better able to furnish the 'Three Minds'!!!

Your great original idea Francis.

Francis, Beautiful drawing. It's simple, yet there's so much to it. The poem is great. I love un-whole trinity for its conjuring of "unholy." Then never-virginal egos comes into play...this is good writing. You are a man of many talents! Well done.

Maybe you're being too hard on yourself, Francis?! I think we can all be of many minds.

Francis this poem is probably heretical and could get you burnt at the stake.I think it has a 'I'm terribly pissed off with Catholic
claptrap 'theme about it which I find very humorous. But then I would,n'est ce pas? Always mind bending as usual!

Francis, I agree with Derrick. I think as well we can be of many minds. And, I believe, GOD is. Strong poem.

Perhaps the conflict is caused by the one thing they all seem to have in common - doubt...?

@Eileen Thanks for the prod, and the kind words.

@Brenda Thanks... I enjoy dabbling with drawing, and keeping it simple usually works best for my skill level :).

@Barbara Thanks for the link... It is pretty cool stuff.

@Derrick Yes, the number is more likely far above three.

@Rall The anti-catholic claptrap theme tends to sneak into my pieces quite a bit. As long as people see the humor in it, I'll not keep it in check :).

@Mary I'd agree... God is all minds.

@Stan Doubt is a factor, but it's also a matter of recognizing and accepting the contradictions.

@Pamela Thanks.
