Simply dashed off

My time has been a bit constrained the past few days, so I'm trying to rein in the scope of my creative endeavors for this weekend so I can get stuff up more quickly. This drawing, for example, was pretty simple to execute, and I'll try to generate my weekly poem along similar lines. I'll give a heart-felt huzzah to whoever can guess the inspiration for the sketch.

Hi Francis, I look at your artwork and reminded of small dog seated as seen from the back. Can't wait to hear what your inspiration was.

I see a powerful hand grasping tightly on the head two figures; a man and a woman.

I can see a tree with deep seated roots.

I can see...so many things.

I see a broken cow skull. Really. I do. There's a lot of stories in the idea of a broken cow skull. For example, the ravages of time...a child's disregard for the sacredness of bone...

I'm seeing a goose or swan at first look. It came to me instantly.

Hi Francis,
Just a wild guess but, Darwin mixed with Georgia O'Keefe's Cow's Skull?

That's the very first thing that popped into my mind.

@AvidReader You got the correct animal, but the wrong end :). It's actually a small dog's nose and brow.

@Jena I like that a simple shape like this can create so many interpretations.

@Susan I meant it to be skull-like, but of a dog rather than cow ... still, pretty close and I like those story ideas :).

@Lorenzo I can definitely make out a beak and neck.

@Jackie That's a pretty cool combination... I'm glad it inspired such a creative thought :).

Thank you Francis! but I see by today's poem that I was wrong.

But, the small figure to the left reminded me of the shape of an ape.

And of course the skull seem obvious. As I am an avid O'keefe fan I suppose that influenced my guess.

Thanks for always answering us...even if we don't always have time to make it back to read your answers!:-)

And there was me thinking it was The Incredible Hulk (the outstretched arms)!
