Surreality check

This is my attempt at a cover illustration for Hanna Filo's self-published poetry book. I worked from a rough sketch she sent me, but took some liberties with the motif. I can't really explain it other than to say it's a bit surreal.

Oh Francis,
I think it is lovely. I can visualize the lovely feminine imagery and It also reminds me of swans.

I am not an art critic that is for sure. But, this is very lovely!!:-)

I could look at it for the longest time, and still keep finding interesting figures and shapes, all relating to one another in different ways.

Beautiful, as all your art.

Nice work.

It's interesting, I look at that as well as others that you've done and I somehow imagine it being relaxing to make, kind of mesmorizing.

Ciao Francis Scudellari!
Ti sei divertito a disegnarlo, eh?
Greeneyezz has reason, this design is very useful for hypnosis therapy ;)
Sei superbo come sempre Francis!!!

I find it sexy..lol..do I see a female ... ? and a bird - with a long bill...it gives so many interpretations like a work of art should.

Superb Francis! Kudos to you.

Jena!
But where is the bird?!
Some boobs are falling by drops, I looking...some fingers...the scissors that cut off the reflexion life...
so many different things...

A sensual explosion of orgasmic colors intertwined. I love it!

It's a woman with snakes and lizards climbing all around her. Very Halloween looking.

@Jackie It's definitely very feminine, but I'll have to search out the swans. I think I do best among the non-art critic crowd :).

@Eric Thanks so much. I did try to repeat some of the patterns, so I'm glad you noticed that.

@GreenEyezz When I sketch these, I do best to relax and let the drawing "emerge" from the initial concept. The coloring can get a little frustrating at times though :).

@Hanna I definitely could fall into a trance looking at this one :).

@Jena There's definitely a woman in the cart ... or a sort of woman (a female version of Pinocchio). The bird-like creature attacking the tree is actually a scissors (but intended to be avian in form).

@Jodapoet Orgasmic? Really? That's awesome :).

@Laura I definitely agree about the appropriateness for Halloween.

I see many things in this. It makes me want to see the poetry book quite badly.

Isn't it interesting how we all want to find tangible things in art like this? It can be mind blowing.

@Cooper Once it's actually published, I'll order a dozen or so from Hanna and make them available to all who'd like to have a copy. It should be before the end of the year, I hope.

@Jakill Yes, it's a pretty common reaction to even the most abstract shapes. Mine are pretty easily interpreted ... I think :).

Hi Francis, for too long I haven't visited anymore any blog of my friends, I'm sorry, I like your work and this one particulary, I see a woman (dead woman) fingers (hand) and cissors too.
Your work rocks !

Thanks Fran ... I know it's hard to keep up with reading blogs, I have the same problem. I'm glad you like the drawings :).
