Doodle Week: Facing Madness

Doodle Week comes to a maddening close with the theme doodle mad. My drawing is a depiction of literal disorder, which is the state in which my thoughts inevitably find themselves. A special thanks to Claire and Laura for organizing Doodle Week and giving me a chance to share my peculiar brand of unbalanced indulgence with a wider audience.

Another great doodle Francis to finish off the week. Have you thought about possibly creating a gapingvoid.com-style widget so that your latest image could be displayed on other people's sites?

Thanks Mark ... it was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed seeing what everyone else came up with during the week. I'll take a look at the widget idea. I need to find a way to make use of these drawings that are piling up in my apartment. I've started giving them away to relatives :).

Fantastico il tuo mondo!

Nice. In fact, I'm starting to really get into your work in general. Does that mean I am Facing Madness? :)

@hanna Grazie, come sempre. Si, e molto fantastico per me. Now if I can just get the rest of the world to resemble mine :).

@max Yes, you are exhibiting the first symptoms of my peculiar madness. Your view of the world will gradually warp, but it's not so bad. The colors are really nice :).

Did you see what that awful Max did to poor Alison over at BritishSpeak?? Can't somebody DO something about him?? Alison is hopping mad, too!!

This is very cool Francis!

Crikey those aren't doodles, they belong in an art gallery! I particularly love the animal one. :)

Francis Scudellari said...

@candy_girl Yes, I just took a gander, but I believe Alison is capable of defending her own honor. I left a message with Max making sure he understands the principle of fair-use.

@alison Thanks. I enjoyed following your story-doodles, and am awaiting the sequels.

@akelamalu I think the pug doodle is probably the popular favorite. Me, I'm most fond of this last one. If you know of any art gallery's looking for some art, feel free to pass along my info :).

"literal disorder, which is the state in which my thoughts inevitably find themselves" significa caos, passione, instinto....
"One must still have chaos in oneself to give birth to a dancing star."
(F.Nietzsche)

Francis, I think your doodles are one of the most memorable ones, if not the most, because of your strong style. :)

Thanks to Doodle Week, I got to know this site (hmm... that sounded like a testimonial from a TV ad) :p

Francis, great work and I have thoroughly enjoyed your doodles and the accompanying text during the week. I am always interested in the story behind the picture. I think Mark had a great idea about the image widget. I think you've got a very unique style and would be a nice complement to many other's blogs.

cheers
dale

@roger Thanks ... I'll miss doodle week, but I'm sure I'll also keep posting new drawings ... just not as frequently.

@cooper It was a lot of fun ... maybe you can join in the next one :).

@hanna I agree with Nietzsche about chaos and creativity. I too often fall into that trap of over-rationalizing to the detriment of living my life to its fullest.

@jennifer A doodle museum is a great idea ... I'm sure there is one somewhere. Thanks for the support during Doodle Week. I'll keep you in my regular blog rotation.

@angel Thanks so much Angel. I love the poetry and art on your site as well.

@ginger I'll take all the testimonials I can get :). I'm glad I discovered your site as well, and I'll be back over there to check on you.

@dale Thanks. I think the widget is a good idea too. It's on my growing list of blog to-do's :).

Nice job Francis! I would love to see these works of your transformed to a higher medium like acrylics or oil. I think it would be truly outstanding... as if they aren't already.

You finished Doodle Week in great style :)

I think your doodles have been the most popular and deservedly so.

:)

@JD Once my artist friend George gets out of the hospital, I'm going to have to help him mix his paints, so I'll use that as my opportunity to make the break to real canvases. I've stuck with the current medium because it's cheap, simple, and easy to store.

@Claire Whatever success I had during doodle week can be directly traced to the twin muses of the event ... you and Laura. Yours were pretty darned popular too, and deservedly so. You should take the next step and do video animations of your stories :).

This is great! I love the eyeballs peeping through. Wonderful doodle! I'm sad Doodle Week is over, it was a lot of fun drawing a different thing every day...
My sisters and I are camping out tonight, so I made them all write something on my blog... Well, I didn't really force them, I asked if they wanted to and they said sure. My sister, Kirsten, didn't want to, but she's the only one that didn't write anything...
Well, awesomeness. Have a great rest of the weekend.

Hi Elise,

You can keep drawing even though Doodle Week is over ... but I know what you mean. It's fun to do a group project like that.

That's a great idea about having your sisters post. I'm off to take a look right now. Sleeping out must be fun ... not something we generally can do here in the big city :(.
