If I could wish,
I would wish upon
petals not yet plucked
from yellowed guessing
If I could wish,
I would wish upon
furry seeds white-tucked
in breathy nesting
If I could wish,
I would wish upon
stony time's rolled back,
concave-gray jumbling
If I could wish,
I would wish upon
yawning star's stretch, black
tales awkward mumbling
And when I did,
each counted could-be
would be a wished lie
down from undoing

This is so beautifully done, it has such an old, genteel quality I love, (was raised on all the old poets). Keep up the good work!
interesting poem... both somber and full of hope... especially like the twist and turn in the last stanza
I really enjoy the nuances of your poem, as I can deeply relate to the sentiment of "If I could wish." Thanks so much for sharing this lovely, solemn, hopeful poems.
@Cynthia Thanks! There's definitely a classical influence here and with some of my other poems. I'll do my best to keep it up :).
@Jon Hope always seems to sneak in despite my best (worst?) intentions, and I definitely like to throw a twist in if I can manage it. Thanks for the comment.
@Shari Thank you for visiting. Having readers to share it with makes all the difference.
