It seemed a good fit, although it was the final image to come to mind.<br /><br />@Therese The punctuation is probably reflective of my time copy editing at small papers. I think I'd have to get someone else to read it aloud... I usually get too nervous. But I'm glad you like the sound of it, which is important to me.<br /><br />@Raven I always try to build a narrative, although this was more of a challenge because of the interesting word choices. I also really appreciate the careful punctuation you use. The poem is almost (except for last stanza) one long sentence. You expertly use ellipses, dashes, semi-colons, and periods.
