I was frustrated by all the war in the news, and wanted to write an inversion of the prayer of St. Francis, but the "poem" turned out to be much darker than I really wanted it. So, I decided to write a "frame" around it to distance myself from it. In essence, to distance myself from a "fictional" self that felt that way, or was made to feel that way by all this war in the world. The ending came from me not wanting to give in to those feelings but recognize the "peace" that's still there, but well hidden.Francis Scudellarihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01008685302028451297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31030337.post-72864916869128582422012-03-04T13:59:31.245-05:002012-03-04T13:59:31.245-05:00Frances, this held me from start to finish. I found the malediction rather creepy (and I am sure that you will not be insulted by that description) in that some of the thoughts contained in it are not so far off from thoughts I myself have had from time to time! I like that it ended on a positive note of beauty.susan sonnenhttp://www.susansonnenmuses.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
